Back by popular demand, this Christmas Chronic Haze brings another five movies to watch when you’re high!
Christmas is here in just a couple of days. If your family gatherings are anything like mine, the usual shenanigans are followed by everyone sitting on the couch watching movies. If your gatherings tend to be a bit of a snoozefest, getting high might be the perfect thing to fix your situation. And if you usually do have a good time at your gatherings, the weed won’t hurt either!
Today we’re bringing you five Christmas-themed movies to watch at your holiday gathering. And of course, they’re all films that’ll pair well with getting high.
The Night Before (2015)
Starting off the list is a relatively recent film, featuring none other than Seth Rogen himself. The plot follows Rogen as Isaac, a soon-to-be father as he and his friends go out for one last night of debauchery and search for a legendary Christmas Party. What ensues is an adventure filled with sex, mischief, and…you guessed it.
While it’s nowhere near being a classic, the movie makes for some good, light fun and is one of the few Christmas films to actually be about weed, and the film is a riot from start to finish. We at Chronic Haze suggest pairing it with some OG Glue; it’s not the type of movie you wanna think hard about, making it perfect to go alongside the mellowing effects of OG Glue.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)
A classic Christmas flick. Not only is it a fun watch with good vibes, but the stop-motion animation will be a trip and a half. And it just wouldn’t be Christmas without watching this once, would it?
Thankfully, the film still holds up. With a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s still adored by audiences everywhere. And that was BEFORE weed was legalized! Your memories of this movie are probably from far back in your childhood. Watching it baked out of your mind will be a whole new experience. Try it with some White Fire Pink to get totally blitzed beyond belief.
Elf (2003)
Elf is one of those Christmas movies that just never loses its touch. As you grow up, most Christmas movies tend to lose their lustre a little. But with an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, Elf somehow manages to escape that stereotype by bringing the laughs. It’d definitely pair well with some Gas Mask to enhance this movie’s inane humor.
Even all these years later, Elf still makes for a great watch on Christmas. Will Ferrell is as funny as ever, Zooey Deschanel is a total babe, and the movie evens feature a pre-Game of Thrones appearance by Peter Dinklage!
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Okay, this one’s kind of a Halloween movie. But it’s also kind of a Christmas movie too. And it’s also sort of a classic. It’s got a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, Tim Burton’s visuals are still as striking as ever, and the movie’s creepy-cute vibe will be a huge switch-up for the Christmas season.
If you’re one of those people who aren’t so big on Christmas, this may just be the Christmas movie for you. Of course, the film’s protagonist Jack Skellington is someone who feels the opposite, but the film’s story about passion and what it means to belong will tug at your heartstrings. To get in a really introspective space when watching, pair it with some Death Bubba!
A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas (2011)
And finally, we have the swan song of the Harold & Kumar series. You probably expected this one. But this list wouldn’t be complete without it. If you’re looking for movies to watch high this Christmas, roll up some Strawberry Cough and throw this one on.
The film features John Cho and Kal Penn at their best, and let’s not forget America’s sweetheart Neil Patrick Harris. The film manages to be hilarious while putting a bow on the Harold & Kumar legacy, and does so while also being a Christmas movie. It’s still raunchy, it’s still crass, and it’s still all about weed. Yet somehow, it’s one of the most memorable Christmas movies of all time.
