Once again, Chronic Haze is bringing you five movies to watch when you’re high!
If you’re stuck staying in this Friday night, it doesn’t have to be the end of the world. As long as you’ve got some green and a screen, you can make the best of the situation. Today we’ve got suggestions for you in both categories, so make a mental note of this list if you need some inspiration.
Without further ado, here are five more movies to watch high.
Dude, Where’s My Car? (2000)
Are you really a stoner if you haven’t seen this one? Starring Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott, this raunchy comedy follows two potheads who wake up after a wild party with no memory of what happened. They find out they’ve been fired from their jobs, they’ve lost their girlfriends’ anniversary gifts, and they can’t remember where they parked their car.
Despite a dismal 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, it has a special place in the hearts of cannabis users everywhere. It’s full of stoner humour, it’s incredibly quotable, and evokes a certain sense of ’90s nostalgia. If you’re looking to get as wrecked as the characters, watch this alongside some Larry Bird by Trichome Valley.
The Truman Show (1998)
If you’re looking for something with a little more substance, check out The Truman Show. It stars Canadian icon Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, an ordinary man who lives an ordinary life. What he doesn’t know is that his entire life is a TV show, including the town he lives in and the people he knows.
With a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, The Truman Show balances comedy with drama and delivers something that is both smart and emotionally-resonant. If you’re looking for something that makes you think and feel, this one’s for you. Some Strawberry Cough will really complement this one.
12 Monkeys (1995)
If you’re looking for something a little weirder, check out 12 Monkeys. Starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt, the film takes place in 2035, almost 40 years after a virus makes the Earth uninhabitable. The protagonist, played by Willis, is tasked with going back to 1996 and finding the original virus for scientists to make a cure.
12 Monkeys boasts a solid 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning you won’t be bored. This cerebral sci-fi is full of twists and turns, and features Brad Pitt in an unforgettably manic role. Smoke some Grease Monkey to really make the experience unforgettable!
Donnie Darko (2001)
Speaking of weird films, we’re about to go weirder. Donnie Darko is a film on every stoner’s list. The plot follows its titular character, a teenager who sleepwalks out of his house. He meets a giant, demonic rabbit named Frank who tells him the world will end in 28 days.
With an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, Donnie Darko deserves all the recognition it gets. It features a star-studded cast, with Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead, with an inspired concept. Try watching it with some Ghost Haze to up the spooky factor!
This Is the End (2013)
Finally, if you just want a stoner flick with tons of laughs, This Is the End is always a great watch. The film’s cast is full of recognizable faces, starring the weed kingpin himself Seth Rogen alongside Jay Baruchel. The usual suspects are here too, like James Franco and Jonah Hill, as well as a slew of celebrities playing themselves.
With an 83% on RT, This Is the End is another worthy entry in the Seth Rogen lineup. Next to Pineapple Express, this is probably his best movie. If you’re looking for something that’s not too serious but still a good time, go with this one.
