If you’re using a vape pen, you shouldn’t hit blinkers!
As cannabis culture has grown in recent years, one particular method that’s gained popularity is the use of cartridges. And it’s easy to see why.
Cartridges, the containers of concentrate that attach to your battery pen, are just far too convenient to pass up. They’re incredibly portable, don’t smell strong, and allow you to toke just as much as you need to. Some even have added terpenes. While they might not hit the same way as regular flower, their upsides make them a must-have for any stoner.
At Chronic Haze, we recognize this. It’s why we carry a vast selection of cartridges from various brands, like Mary’s and Pegasus420.
However, this surge in cart usage means that many people are consuming them without understanding the potential risks. The most prominent one is people’s tendency to hit blinkers.
What’s that, you ask? Blinkers are when you hold the button on your pen, toke, and keep going until the light on the button starts flashing.
If you ask your uninformed stoner friend, they’ll probably tell you that blinkers are fine to do. “I need a huge hit! I’ve got a high tolerance! I’ve been smoking for years, bro!”
I’ve heard it all before.
The truth is blinkers are one of the worst things to can do to yourself and your purchase. Today, we’ll talk about why that is. If you’re looking to get the best out of your cartridge and your lungs, read on!
Blinkers are Bad for Your Device
Let’s get one thing straight: the atomizer on your pen gets HOT. Really hot. It’s the only way your pen’s able to vapourize that thick cannabis oil. It’s also why you can get a solid hit with just a quick push of the button (or a quick toke, if you’re using something like Zen Botanicals Extracts Vape Pen).
The heat of the atomizer is so intense that prolonged usage will actually do damage to your device. Needless to say, you don’t have to take an obscenely long draw to get the best out of your pen. Smaller hits go a long way!
As if that weren’t bad enough, repeatedly hitting blinkers will also drain your battery way faster than necessary. Nothing sucks more than having your pen die on you while you’re out adventuring. So why facilitate that process? Chill out, and take little hits more often.
But your worries don’t end there. It gets even worse with blinkers.
Blinkers are Bad for Your Health
The real dangers of doing blinkers are for your body.
Remember how we said the heat from the atomizer can damage your device? Part of that damage is the leeching of dangerous metals, like nickel, into the chamber that contains your cannabis oil.
After reaching your lungs, these metals move into your bloodstream and can make it to your brain. From here, they have the potential to do irreversible damage. Specifically, they can impair the areas of your brain involved in emotion regulation, memory, and critical thinking.
On top of that, all those heavy hits of concentrate really take a toll on your lungs. What, you thought all that coughing was a good thing? If there’s any greater cause of morning cough than a night of heavy smoking, it’s a night of blinkers.
Just Don’t Do It, Bro
All in all, blinkers are not it, bro. As stated earlier, you’re way better off just taking smaller hits more often if you’re trying to get really high. Your brain will thank you, your lungs will thank you, your wallet…the list goes on.
It should be noted that we’re not trying to scare you with this information. Unless you’re doing blinkers, that is. But seriously, cartridges are one of the best ways to get high. And as long as you use them properly, they’ll remain that way for you.
