You’ve probably done this before. If so, this will serve as a refresher. If you haven’t, then it’s time to finally learn. Today, Chronic Haze is going to teach you how to make weed brownies.
Making your own weed brownies is a rite of passage in the stoner community. Everybody has a story about that time they tried making brownies with friends and made a batch that was too strong. The hilarity that ensues is an integral part of the DIY brownies experience. But rest easy; you don’t have to make your brownies obscenely strong to have a good time, and it’s easy to make them exactly how you like ’em.
Today, we’ll give you a cheat sheet for making easy and effective weed brownies. Follow these steps, and in no time, you’ll have a batch of edibles you made all by yourself.
Ingredients
In order to get started on your brownies, you’ll need a few things:
- Ground cannabis; this can range from a gram to a half ounce (~8-200mg), depending on your preference (try our SFV OG to add a nice nutty flavour)
- A cup of butter
- ¾ cups of flour
- 1 ½-2 cups of sugar
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- 2 large eggs (use 3 for a gooey texture)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ½-1 cup of chopped chocolate (try these to make your brownies really pop)
Once all that’s ready, it’s time to begin.
Step 1: Decarboxylation
You should know this part by now; it’s time to decarb the weed! Set your oven to about 120°C (250°F) and throw your ground flower in on a baking tray for 25-30 minutes.
Step 2: Make the Cannabutter
Now it’s time to work with your fat-soluble ingredient, that being the butter. Put your butter in a small saucepan and heat at a low simmer. Once it’s melted, throw in your decarboxylated weed and let it infuse, without exceeding 87°C (190°F). Do this for 45-60 minutes, and then remove the pan and strain the flower out from the butter.
Step 3: Mix Your Ingredients
Using the microwave in 10-second intervals to avoid burning, melt the chocolate into the cannabutter. Once that’s done, mix in the sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Next, mix in the eggs, one by one. Finish it off by mixing in the flour, but not too much. Mix only until the flour is no longer visible.
Step 4: Bake the Brownies
Crank your oven up to 177°C (350°F). Get a baking pan oiled or buttered, and pour your mix in. Place it in the centre of the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Once they’re done, pull them out and allow them to cool before serving.
